Exciting news for retro gaming enthusiasts! The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller is finally receiving its first-ever discount on Amazon. Launched in late July, this innovative N64-inspired wireless controller can now be yours for just $30.57 (originally $40). Currently, only the sleek white version is available at this special price, though the black model has also seen a recent restock at its standard cost.
While primarily designed in collaboration with retro hardware specialist Analogue, this versatile 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller is fully compatible with Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, PC, and Android devices. For optimal performance with Switch 2, a simple firmware update might be necessary. Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers will particularly love this controller, as it provides an authentic and enjoyable way to relive classic N64 titles.
The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller made its debut last October, announced alongside the highly anticipated Analogue 3D console. Unfortunately, the Analogue 3D, a 4K Nintendo 64 system, has faced multiple delays and is now projected for a Q4 2025 release.

The 8BitDo 64 Controller reimagines the classic N64 gamepad with wireless Bluetooth connectivity, maintaining all the essential buttons but in a modern, ergonomic layout similar to the popular 8BitDo Ultimate series.
Its highlight is the Hall Effect joystick on the left side, featuring a durable metal ring for smooth, precise control and eliminating stick drift. The stick also boasts three circular ridges to recreate the original N64 feel, coupled with a comfortable rubberized cap instead of hard plastic. The octagonal stick gate is retained to simulate the N64’s eight-way D-pad, while the actual D-pad on the new controller is in a new location, too, but it still sits in a recessed pocket.
The familiar large A/B and four C buttons match the N64’s layout in size and shape. The shoulder buttons (R and L) and dual Z triggers have been modernized. The original N64 had its Z button on the back of the middle prong; now you get two, which is great for games beyond the N64 library.
A large start button is accompanied by modern 8BitDo features: minus (select), 8BitDo (home), and Turbo. The turbo function allows for repeated button presses with a single hold. Full control remapping and adjustments are possible via the 8BitDo Ultimate Software desktop or mobile app. It supports S-Input (Switch) and D-Input modes, and while it has built-in rumble, vibration functionality is currently limited to Analogue 3D and Switch platforms.
Beyond the N64 controller, Amazon is also featuring discounts on other acclaimed 8BitDo products, including the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller and the brand-new 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad. These controllers offer broad compatibility across Nintendo Switch (both current and future models), PC, Apple devices, Android, and SteamOS. For those not requiring Nintendo console support, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 can be found for a compelling $53.

The Analogue 3D is the latest innovation from the esteemed retro hardware manufacturer, an advanced FPGA console designed to meticulously replicate the Nintendo 64 experience. Priced at $250, preorders swiftly sold out last October. Aspiring retro gamers should remain vigilant for future restocks once the console officially launches in Q4 2025.
This console promises an unparalleled N64 experience, allowing you to play your original game cartridges with hardware-accurate emulation and complete compatibility, all rendered in stunning 4K resolution. It features four controller ports, accommodating authentic Nintendo 64 three-prong controllers or various third-party wired alternatives. However, it’s important to note that the console does not include a controller, so you’ll need to acquire an 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller or similar gamepad separately.
