This classic RPG transported players from the urban sprawl of Santa Monica to the gritty battlefields of 12th-century Prague. You stepped into the shoes of Christof Romuald, a crusader tragically transformed into a Brujah vampire with a fierce determination to hunt down Tzimisce foes. Plunged headfirst into the treacherous World of Darkness, Christof’s journey across various lands could lead to a rekindled lost love or a torrent of bloodshed. While Bloodlines remains the iconic title—a legacy Bloodlines 2 aims to continue—Redemption offers an equally compelling narrative that, despite its age, is truly worth experiencing.
For years, a dedicated group of modders, spearheaded by ‘Galejro,’ embarked on an ambitious quest: to fully remaster Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption within the Skyrim engine. Their goal was to revitalize this classic RPG with a much-needed visual and mechanical overhaul. Despite receiving the green light from Paradox, the current stewards of the World of Darkness IP, Activision—the original publisher of Redemption—unexpectedly shut down the project entirely in 2024.
For a moment, it seemed Galejro’s ambitious Skyrim mod was dead and buried. However, later in 2024, the team made a thrilling announcement: they would press on, creating a mod inspired by Redemption but carefully avoiding Activision’s specific intellectual properties. Reborn as Vampire: The Masquerade – Reawakened, the project burst back to unlife, proving it was merely in a deep, vampiric slumber.
After a period of quiet development, Galejro finally broke the silence on Friday, September 26, releasing a brand-new video. This, they reveal, will be their ‘last development report’ before launch! Why the change? Because Reawakened now has a concrete release window, and the team is even secretly working on a second mod to complement it.

Let’s dive into the exciting enhancements coming to Reawakened. The team has already completed 25% of Prague’s primary questline, with the opening quest and all its cutscenes fully implemented. Expect fresh voicelines and thoughtful adjustments to the initial Tzimisce encounter, carefully reworked to avoid direct callbacks to the original Redemption. Character models have also received a massive facelift; ‘Ecaterina the Wise,’ now known as Katerina, looks strikingly eerie, and Anezka is simply stunning. Weapons have been meticulously remastered, offering diverse combat stances for greater tactical depth. Even the monstrous creatures you’ll face have been given a terrifying new coat of blood-soaked paint, looking utterly horrifying!
Furthermore, the Coterie mechanic has seen impressive evolution. For the very first time in Reawakened, you’ll be able to actively switch between your Coterie members. You can even dictate their combat behavior, choosing between passive or aggressive stances. (Personally, as a devoted Toreador, I know I’ll be sticking with Lily!) While direct world interaction or using specific disciplines for these characters isn’t yet confirmed, this new feature is a fantastic addition nonetheless.
All these impressive changes, including tweaks to disciplines like a less overpowered Celerity and a reworked Humanity system reminiscent of Bloodlines 1, are showcased in the video below.
But the excitement doesn’t stop with Reawakened! Galejro also revealed that the team is developing an entirely new series of mods called Vampire: The Masquerade – Chronicles. These will be shorter, standalone ‘one-shot’ stories, each featuring a complete character creator and two distinct chapters influenced by your chosen clan. Lore-faithful choices include Cappadocian (now Hecata), Nosferatu, or Tremere, with Gangrel and Ventrue planned for future additions.
Chronicles will brilliantly integrate Skyrim‘s classic bribe, persuade, and intimidate systems. It will also feature a ‘boon system,’ allowing other characters to complete quests on your behalf, and an ‘influence’ mechanic that, as you’d imagine, impacts merchant prices and NPC interactions.
To streamline the launch of Chronicles and Reawakened, the team is actively discussing the creation of a dedicated sub-website on NexusMods. With the formidable backing of the Beyond Skyrim and Skyblivion mod teams, the ultimate vision is to establish a comprehensive portal, akin to Fallout London, for all future Reawakened content. Mark your calendars: the Vampire: The Masquerade – Reawakened Skyrim mod is currently slated for release in Q3 or Q4 of 2026. Galejro humorously advises not to expect it in the first half of 2026, suggesting that Halloween or even Christmas might be fitting launch dates. He assures fans that development is ‘looking quite good’ and even hinted at potential beta tests – news that is undoubtedly music to many eager ears, mine included!
