Users can now craft prompts in their preferred language and receive accurate, localized outputs. Previously, Canva AI was limited to English only.
Canva AI Embraces Global Communication with 16 New Languages
In a recent announcement, Canva revealed that its conversational AI assistant, initially launched in April 2025, now supports a wider array of languages. Beyond English, the assistant is fluent in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
This expansion goes beyond simple translation. Canva AI is now also proficient in 31 distinct locales, meaning it can understand and incorporate local conventions and cultural nuances. This allows the AI to generate more contextually appropriate and accurate designs and content based on user prompts. While the specific 31 locales weren’t detailed, this enhancement ensures a truly tailored experience. Furthermore, Canva AI can now respond and generate outputs even when users make verbal requests in these newly supported languages.
To illustrate the power of this locale expansion, Canva provided examples: “Someone in Tokyo asking for a professional presentation will see Canva AI consider Japanese design sensibilities, or someone in Mumbai requesting a festive poster will see Canva AI draw from culturally-relevant visual elements.”
Canva also highlighted the remarkable success of its AI tools, noting they have been used over 20 billion times since their introduction, making them one of the platform’s fastest-growing offerings. The company proudly announced reaching $3.3 billion (approximately Rs. 29,300 crore) in annualized revenue and achieving a milestone of 240 million global users.
The versatile Canva AI can perform a wide range of functions, including generating designs and images, drafting documents, writing front-end focused code, and even creating video clips powered by Google’s advanced Veo 3 AI model. Additional capabilities include removing and expanding backgrounds, erasing elements, repositioning components, and making localized edits. Canva AI is a premium feature, available to all subscribers on the platform.
