In just a short time since its complete release, the game has captivated a massive audience, successfully drawing in over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam. Hades 2 is currently accessible on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, following more than a year in early access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Impressively, SteamDB charts reveal that Hades 2 achieved an all-time peak of 112,947 concurrent players shortly after its launch, showcasing its immediate popularity. At the time of this report, over 43,000 players were actively engaged in the game.
The game’s success isn’t limited to PC; it’s also making significant waves on Nintendo platforms. Hades 2 has notably displaced Hollow Knight: Silksong from Nintendo’s digital best-sellers list for both Switch and Switch 2, confirming its status as a timed console exclusive for these platforms. This remarkable performance means Hades 2 has already surpassed the original Hades’ all-time peak player count on Steam.

It has proudly claimed the title of the highest-rated new game of 2025 on Metacritic, boasting an impressive score of 94. Similarly, it stands as one of the year’s top performers on OpenCritic, matching Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 with a strong score of 92.
Player reception on Steam mirrors this critical success, with Hades 2 maintaining an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating based on more than 40,000 player reviews.
The game first entered early access on PC in May 2024, and within hours, it managed to double the all-time peak concurrent player count of its predecessor, Hades, setting a clear precedent for its ultimate success.
The version 1.0 update brought a wealth of new content, including the game’s true ending, fresh events for its diverse cast of characters, new musical scores, additional Fated List prophecies, and exciting late-game unlockables.
