The much-anticipated Telugu gangster film, ‘They Call Him OG,’ starring Pawan Kalyan, has made a spectacular debut at the box office. Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Entertainment, the movie, released on September 25th with early premieres on September 24th, has already cemented its place as Pawan Kalyan’s highest-grossing film, outperforming ‘Bheemla Nayak’s lifetime collection in just two days.
Record-Breaking Box Office Performance
According to DVV Entertainment, ‘OG’ grossed a staggering ₹154 crore worldwide on its opening Friday, which included the earnings from the paid premieres. Trade sources also reported a massive opening day collection of ₹144 crore. The film’s domestic collection reached ₹103.50 crore net in two days, with an additional ₹47.35 crore from overseas markets, bringing the total worldwide collection to an impressive ₹171 crore in just 48 hours.
This phenomenal opening has surpassed Pawan Kalyan’s previous blockbuster, ‘Bheemla Nayak’ (2022), which had a lifetime collection of ₹158.5 crore. The film’s success is partly attributed to its premium pricing strategy, with premiere tickets priced at ₹1000 in Andhra Pradesh and ₹800 in Telangana.
Pawan Kalyan’s Continued Box Office Dominance
Despite a slight dip on Friday, ‘OG’ is projected to be Pawan Kalyan’s first film to cross the ₹200 crore mark. It is also on track to surpass the ₹186 crore collection of Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer,’ potentially becoming the second-highest-grossing film of the year. ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu,’ another of Pawan Kalyan’s films, had collected ₹116.82 crore in its lifetime.
