Do you know if Silent Hill f features multiple endings? This series is famous for its various conclusions, often delivering poignant messages even amidst the trauma. And sometimes, surprisingly, there are even lighthearted ones.
Our protagonist, Hinako, has faced immense challenges since childhood within this psychological horror game. Her story, which we’ve explored in our spoiler-free review, is laden with a difficult family life, betrayals from friends, societal gender discrimination, and the heavy responsibilities of being a woman in 1960s Japan. When you add substance abuse into this already volatile mix, you can anticipate some truly impactful and often disturbing Silent Hill f endings.
Understanding the Silent Hill f Endings
The primary ending is the only one you’ll encounter on your very first playthrough. To discover the four alternate endings, you’ll need to delve into New Game Plus.
The “Coming Home to Roost” Ending Explained
In what serves as the main conclusion, Hinako returns to her childhood home, only to be met with rejection—likely after a forced marriage to Fox Mask. This sets the stage for a final, deeply personal battle as Hinako confronts a monstrous version of herself, adorned in a traditional Japanese wedding kimono. Her cry, “You took everything from me,” suggests that the Hinako we’ve guided through the game is a younger iteration, reliving or confronting events before her own marriage, perhaps echoing the loss of her sister to marriage. She yearns to rewind time, to undo what has been done.
After seemingly vanquishing her bridal form, young Hinako emerges from the Dark Shrine into the chaos of sirens and flashing lights, only to be confronted by another version of herself before the credits roll. This could symbolize an inescapable fate, a cycle she cannot break, hinting that she will never truly defeat this aspect of her identity. When Hinako shouts, “Get out of our way,” to her future self, it might be interpreted as a collective plea for herself, her sister, and perhaps all women to break free from these imposed societal roles.
A chilling post-credits scene reveals a police officer reporting a murder suspect on the loose, described as a woman in her 20s wearing a wedding dress. This implies Hinako, on her wedding day, suffered a drug-induced mental breakdown. Two male suspects are also mentioned, potentially her husband and father, and Hinako herself is implicated in a prior “wedding massacre.”
