Exciting news for fans of the Brothers in Arms series! It appears a new installment might indeed be on the horizon, with an Estonian developer, Frozen Lake Studios, announcing its collaboration with Gearbox Software on a ‘classified’ Brothers in Arms game.
Over fifty artists and animators at Frozen Lake Studios are reportedly dedicated to ‘Gearbox’s next Brothers in Arms mission.’ This revelation comes more than four years after Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford initially confirmed that his studio was working on a new game in the beloved franchise. At the time, Pitchford had stated that a grand reveal wouldn’t happen until the game was significantly progressed, aiming to avoid the pitfalls of premature announcements, much like the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines situation.
Frozen Lake Studios is no stranger to working with Gearbox, having previously contributed to titles like Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. Their expertise also extends to World War II-themed games, with experience on projects such as Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond and Sniper Elite 4.
The last main entry in the series released for consoles and PC was 2008’s Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, developed by Gearbox and published by Ubisoft. Since then, the franchise saw a few mobile iterations, including 2014’s Brothers in Arms 3: Sons of War. There was also a Gearbox-developed project, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, which was eventually canceled, with some of its elements later repurposed for the short-lived Battleborn.
In related news from Gearbox, their recent hit Borderlands 4 launched earlier this month. The game just received a significant patch that introduced a much-requested FOV slider for console players. However, Switch 2 owners will have to wait longer, as the game’s release on that platform has been delayed indefinitely. For those diving into Borderlands 4, keep an eye out for active Shift codes to enhance your gameplay.
