Filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently opened up about deeply personal aspects of his life in an interview, particularly touching upon his marriages to Mona Shourie Kapoor and the iconic Sridevi. Speaking on Chanda Kochhar’s YouTube channel, Kapoor revealed a touching gesture from his first wife, Mona.
Mona’s Enduring Love
Kapoor shared that the wedding rings he and Sridevi wore were both purchased by Mona. “I told my first wife. I had confessed to her. Look at this ring I’m wearing and the one Sridevi was wearing. Both were bought by Mona… She brought the children up without creating any kind of hatred toward me or the other kids,” Kapoor said, highlighting Mona’s remarkable maturity and grace.
He further elaborated on the emotional challenges of navigating his personal life, especially during Sridevi’s parents’ passing. Kapoor recounted receiving a letter from his son Arjun Kapoor, pleading for him to come home. “I used to feel bad. What could I do? I was divided. On one side was my wife (Sridevi), and on the other side were my kids. I couldn’t leave her alone,” he explained, acknowledging the difficult circumstances and the emotional impact on his children.
Finding Peace and Unity
Despite the initial controversies surrounding his relationship with Sridevi, Kapoor expressed gratitude for the eventual peace and understanding that developed within the families. He feels fortunate that after Sridevi’s passing in 2018, his children—Arjun, Anshula, Janhvi, and Khushi Kapoor—have come together to form a strong, unified family.
