While Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update is still reaching many Galaxy devices, exciting whispers about its successor, One UI 8.5, have already emerged. Recent leaks offer an early glimpse into internal builds, suggesting significant enhancements to the lock screen experience. Users can look forward to fresh clock styles and a sophisticated blurred effect for lock screen notifications, designed to improve readability and reduce visual clutter. This eagerly awaited One UI 8.5 is anticipated to debut with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in early 2026.

One UI 8.5: A Fresh Visual Experience for Galaxy

The upcoming One UI 8.5 update is poised to deliver a substantial design refresh across Galaxy devices. A prominent new feature is expected to be the introduction of blurred backgrounds for lock screen notifications. This subtle yet impactful design change aims to significantly enhance readability by minimizing distractions and ensuring notifications stand out clearly against any wallpaper. It promises to bring a more polished and cohesive aesthetic that truly reflects Samsung’s sophisticated interface design.

Beyond improved notifications, One UI 8.5 is also expected to debut a variety of refreshed lock screen clock styles. This will grant users greater freedom to personalize their devices, offering new ways to tailor the visual experience and ensuring improved readability for time-telling at a glance.

Furthermore, the One UI 8.5 update is expected to include significant upgrades to Samsung’s popular Good Lock application, specifically its LockStar module, allowing for even deeper lock screen customization. Initial reports also featured images, providing a tantalizing preview of these exciting changes coming to Galaxy devices.

Anticipation is high for One UI 8.5’s launch in early 2026, where it’s expected to make its grand debut alongside the flagship Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Pro, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models. Following this initial rollout, the update will likely become available for a broader range of existing Galaxy devices.

In related news, Samsung is reportedly testing the One UI 8.5 build on several international variants, including the Galaxy S24+ (model number SM-S926B), Galaxy S25 (model number SM-S938B), and the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Early indicators suggest this update will also feature a revamped Phone app, subtle adjustments to the battery indicator, and improvements to the Gallery, My Files, and Camera applications.
