Konami recently dropped a major announcement during their Tokyo Game Show briefing: the much-anticipated ‘Fox Hunt’ multiplayer mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is officially launching on October 30th. This online experience, an evolution of the classic Metal Gear Online, promises to immerse players in thrilling ‘cat-and-mouse’ encounters where stealth and survival are paramount.
The ‘Fox Hunt’ mode will support up to 12 players and introduce two distinct gameplay types. The first, ‘Survival Capture,’ is a high-stakes, multi-phase mission where teams compete to capture elusive Kerotan frogs. As the match progresses, the number of frogs dwindles, intensifying the hunt.
The second mode, ‘Survival Intrude,’ challenges players to seize and hold strategic zones across the map. Similar to ‘Survival Capture,’ the number of available zones will decrease over time, pushing players towards more direct confrontations.
To aid in these covert operations, players will be equipped with an AT-CAMO suit, allowing them to seamlessly blend into various environments. Additionally, the ‘Naked Sense’ ability will provide a tactical advantage by detecting nearby enemies and crucial items.
A notable detail for players is that ‘Fox Hunt’ will not feature cross-platform multiplayer; matches will be limited to players on the same console or PC. However, players will have the option to create private matches with their friends. Importantly, Konami has confirmed that the mode will be free of any microtransactions, focusing purely on gameplay.
Metal Gear Solid: Delta Snake Eater has already received critical acclaim, with GameSpot awarding it a 9 out of 10.
