Struggling to escape the Silent Hill f scarecrow field? The iconic, suffocating fog is a hallmark of the Silent Hill universe, and even in this new installment, you’ll encounter a particularly dense, disorienting mist within a vast field crawling with deadly scarecrows. It’s incredibly easy to lose your way in this eerie, misty landscape.
Your mission is to locate and remove nails from specific scarecrows. A wrong choice triggers their aggressive attacks. The true challenge of this Silent Hill f puzzle isn’t just identifying the correct scarecrows, but navigating the treacherous fog itself. Even seasoned puzzle game fans can easily get lost. If you’re struggling, this guide offers the solutions and clear directions to help you successfully navigate the Silent Hill f scarecrow field.
Navigating and Escaping the Scarecrow Field
The field is divided into five distinct sections, and in each, your goal is to retrieve a set of Flash Cards hidden within one of the scarecrows. Be warned: choosing incorrectly will trigger a combat encounter. The most challenging aspect is navigating between these groups, as the dense fog can quickly disorient you. Veering too far off course will result in a reset. Fortunately, when you successfully pull a nail from the correct scarecrow, it will bodily contort to indicate the path to your next objective.
Please note: This guide provides solutions specifically for Hard mode. We are working to update it with solutions for Story and Lost in the Fog modes as soon as possible.
The key to selecting the right scarecrow lies with the faceless figure guarding each group. You’ll quickly notice that for the first four sections, the correct scarecrow will visually resemble Rinko, while the final section’s solution is a scarecrow resembling Hinako.
First Clue: The Polite Smile
The first clue from the scarecrow states: ‘Can you imagine how I feel? I’ll put on my polite smile for now.’
This hint points to a scarecrow that’s smiling, but deceptively. Look for the scarecrow that is both smiling and wearing a mask. Interacting with this specific figure will reward you with Flash Cards bearing the messages: ‘It’s okay.’ and ‘You don’t have to be afraid anymore.’
Following this, the scarecrow will eerily contort its body, physically pointing you towards the next clue.
Second Clue: The Deceived Betrayal
The second clue reads: ‘Can you imagine how I feel? What it’s like to have been deceived by you for so long?’
This scarecrow symbolizes betrayal. You must interact with the statue that has a scythe plunged into its back. The Flash Cards obtained here will reveal: ‘That’s what I said to you when I saw you so scared,’ and the scarecrow will then guide your path forward.
Third Clue: Jealousy’s Embrace
The third clue evokes strong feelings of jealousy: ‘He never once looked at me the way he looked at you. Not once.’
While the exact interpretation is ambiguous, it’s suggested this scarecrow is desperately vying for attention. Therefore, select the figure that is physically bending over backward. This scarecrow will then direct you towards the fourth clue.
Fourth Clue: The Eyesore
The fourth scarecrow’s clue directly states: ‘You’ve always been such an eyesore.’
This clue is arguably the most challenging in Hard mode, as its connection to the correct scarecrow isn’t immediately apparent. The only distinct feature is that this scarecrow appears to be craning its neck to look away, and notably, it sports Rinko’s signature half-up, half-down hairstyle.
Fifth Clue: Staring at Disgust
The final, intense clue screams: ‘You hurt me, and even hurt him, too. Do you know how it feels to force a smile when I’m staring at that disgusting face of yours?!’ This scarecrow also has a scythe embedded in its back and is looking downwards.
By this stage, you’ll likely have several deadly scarecrows pursuing you. It’s highly recommended to eliminate them before attempting to solve this puzzle. Be aware that these creatures advance when off-screen and will attack as soon as you draw near. Keeping this tactic in mind will greatly assist you in overcoming them.
Once you’ve successfully navigated all five rounds of the Silent Hill f scarecrow challenge, you’ll be transported back to Shu in the ‘real’ world of Ebusugaoka.
