A Spanish-speaking Twitch streamer, known online as Keltonkeltonlive and kelton_g, has come under fire after a video circulated widely showing him assaulting an elderly man on a train in Japan. The incident occurred after the elderly passenger reportedly asked the streamer, who was live-streaming while dressed as Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, to be quieter.
In the footage, the elderly man is seen approaching the streamer, who was occupying a priority seat. After an initial interaction where the streamer seemed to comply, the situation escalated when the man allegedly attempted to touch the streamer. The streamer responded by pushing the man, followed by another push as the man tried to return to his seat.
Kelton later shared his perspective on Instagram, acknowledging that both parties acted poorly. He stated the gentleman was rude and attempted to hit him multiple times, while he himself reacted by pushing the man. Despite his explanation, Kelton’s accounts on Twitch and Kick have since been suspended for violating community guidelines.
The incident has ignited a debate online, with many condemning the streamer’s actions as disrespectful, particularly in Japanese culture where elders are highly respected. Critics also voiced concerns about the behavior of tourists, emphasizing that such incidents reflect poorly on foreigners. Japanese authorities are reportedly looking to identify the man, with calls for deportation and reporting to Interpol circulating among online commenters.
