During Sony’s recent State of Play event, an exciting announcement was made: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is officially coming to PlayStation 5, with a release date set for December 8. Microsoft also confirmed that PlayStation VR2 support is in development for the game.
To ensure an exceptional PlayStation experience, the developers have fully utilized the DualSense wireless controller’s immersive capabilities. Players will feel adaptive triggers responding to different terrain speeds and surfaces, as well as encounter sloped resistance during flight. Air traffic control communications will be broadcast directly through the controller’s speaker, enhancing the sensation of being in a real cockpit. Furthermore, gyro controls, lightbar integration, and a customizable touchpad will elevate the overall flight immersion.

This isn’t the first time a Microsoft-developed game has landed on PlayStation; other titles like Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, Grounded, and Gears of War: Reloaded have also made the jump.
Microsoft’s strategy to release its titles on PlayStation (and occasionally Nintendo) is reportedly driven by an internal directive to boost revenue across all divisions, including Xbox. This initiative, known as “Latitude,” aims to expand the availability of first-party Xbox games to competing consoles. Some industry analysts even predict that all major Microsoft games will eventually make their way to PS5.
The news of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 coming to PS5 wasn’t entirely unexpected, as previous reports had already hinted at more Xbox titles potentially appearing on Sony’s platform.
