Bollywood actress Yami Gautam recently opened up about the pressures within the film industry regarding appearance, particularly recalling an incident where she was asked to change her eyebrows. In an interview with News18, Yami shared how a senior makeup artist suggested altering her eyebrow shape to remove a curve, believing it would make her look more ‘edgy and cooler’.
Recounting the experience with a touch of humor about wanting her eyebrows to resemble “two snails approaching each other from either side,” Yami expressed her disappointment, stating, “My heart really sank.” She politely declined the suggestion, preferring to move forward with her readiness for the day.
Beyond this specific incident, Yami affirmed her firm decision against undergoing any cosmetic surgeries. She explained her perspective, acknowledging that while certain altered looks might appear striking on magazine covers, as an actor, her focus should remain on authenticity. She believes that unnatural facial features can become a distraction for the audience. Yami emphasized that even outside of her acting career, she would avoid procedures that alter facial structure or involve introducing substances into the skin, citing potential long-term consequences.
Yami’s candidness comes at a time when many celebrities, including Khushi Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Priyanka Chopra, have openly discussed their experiences with cosmetic procedures, while others like Kareena Kapoor have voiced their preference against them.
On the professional front, Yami Gautam was last seen in the comedy film ‘Dhoom Dhaam’. Her upcoming project includes ‘Haq’, a courtroom drama where she will be seen alongside Emraan Hashmi, slated for release on November 7.
