Despite earlier indications that there wouldn’t be any more playtests for the highly anticipated extraction shooter, Arc Raiders, developer Embark Studios has announced a surprise final opportunity for players. A “Server Slam Open Test” is scheduled to run from October 17-19, available across PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This crucial test aims to thoroughly evaluate the game’s servers, preparing them for the official launch later this month.
During this open weekend, participants will get to explore the Dam Battlegrounds, diving into aspects of progression and crafting while tackling a series of quests. While progress made during the Slam Test won’t carry over to the full game, everyone who joins in will earn an exclusive Arc Raiders backpack cosmetic!
This event is open to all players aged 16 and older, requiring no special keys or invites. It’s your chance to get an early look at Arc Raiders before its debut.

Earlier this year, it seemed like Arc Raiders was set for a direct confrontation with Bungie’s Marathon in the extraction shooter genre. However, Marathon faced a delay following allegations of art theft, pushing its release past its original September 23 target. It’s worth noting that Arc Raiders will not follow a free-to-play model; this PvPvE extraction shooter will launch as a premium title, priced at $40, on October 30.
October is already proving to be a packed month for new game releases. Arc Raiders will arrive shortly after other major titles such as The Outer Worlds 2, Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, ensuring a busy gaming calendar for players.
