Ultra Gas & Energy Ltd (UGEL), a forward-thinking venture from the Essar Group, has quickly become India’s leading private operator and highest dispenser of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) at its refueling stations. Currently, six of these innovative stations are fully operational, strategically placed along key freight routes to serve the nation’s bustling commercial logistics.
These advanced refueling centers are strategically located in critical industrial and logistics hubs across the country, including Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Anand (Gujarat), Chakan-Pune (Maharashtra), Jalna (Maharashtra), Toranagallu (Karnataka), and Vallam (Tamil Nadu). This thoughtful placement ensures widespread access to cleaner, more sustainable fuel options for commercial transport.
UGEL is dedicated to pioneering clean technology, actively building a robust LNG fueling infrastructure designed to accelerate India’s transition towards a future of sustainable and low-emission transportation.
Looking ahead, every UGEL refueling station is designed to be future-proof, featuring integrated infrastructure capable of supporting the charging needs of electric vehicles (EVs), further broadening their clean energy offerings.
By providing commercial fleets with viable alternatives to high-emission fuels, such as LNG and electric charging, UGEL is offering its customers a compelling proposition: significant environmental benefits alongside tangible economic savings.
With an ambitious vision, the company plans to expand its network to 100 LNG retail outlets nationwide, backed by a substantial investment of ₹900 crore.
This expansion is already well underway in several key states, including Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, marking a rapid progression towards a greener logistics landscape.
Maqsood Shaikh, the Managing Director & CEO of Ultra Gas & Energy Ltd, emphasized the company’s broader mission, stating, “Our retail outlets are designed to be much more than just fueling points; they are pivotal catalysts driving a cleaner, more intelligent future for logistics.”
He further elaborated, “Leveraging our robust infrastructure and cutting-edge energy solutions, we are at the forefront of India’s shift towards sustainable mobility and greener fuels. Our core vision is deeply embedded in principles of innovation, operational efficiency, and unwavering environmental responsibility.”
UGEL’s stations are playing a crucial role in accelerating the nationwide transition from conventional diesel to the cleaner LNG fuel.
Each of UGEL’s state-of-the-art stations boasts a scalable capacity of 50 tonnes, allowing them to refuel an impressive up to 600 LNG trucks every month, ensuring efficient service for high-demand commercial operations.
To guarantee a consistent and reliable fuel supply, UGEL has established strong partnerships with major LNG suppliers, including IOCL, GAIL, and HPCL. This network provides seamless access to all significant LNG terminals across India, facilitating smooth scalability for their expanding operations.
