Xiaomi 17 Series Set for September 25 Launch in China
The highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 series, comprising the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, is scheduled to launch in China on September 25 at 7 PM local time (4:30 PM IST). The entire series is slated to receive a significant cross-generation power upgrade and will run on the new Xiaomi HyperOS 3.
In a strategic move, Xiaomi is replacing its ‘Ultra’ moniker with the ‘Pro Max’ branding for its top-tier model. This change is likely intended to position the series as a more direct competitor to Apple, which recently introduced its own iPhone 17 series, including the base iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and an iPhone Air variant. Promotional materials for the Xiaomi 17 series launch provide a glimpse of the rear panels of all three upcoming handsets.
Each phone in the lineup will feature Leica-backed cameras, promising exceptional photography capabilities. The standard Xiaomi 17 variant appears to have a rectangular camera module with elegantly rounded edges, situated in the top-left corner of the back panel.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will showcase an innovative “Magic Back Screen.” This secondary display is seamlessly integrated with the rear camera module and will offer functionalities such as showing the time and other information through various themes, including dynamic animated options.
As previously disclosed by the company, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will all be driven by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Despite these considerable upgrades and new features, consumers will be pleased to know that the phones are not expected to carry a higher price tag than their predecessors. The complete series is currently available for pre-reservation in China.
