A fresh update for Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 brings a mix of welcome changes and necessary adjustments for players. Following the recent Patch 10, which expanded the game’s intense Tyranid and Chaos battles with new PvE and PvP modes, developer Saber Interactive has been closely monitoring the game’s balance. They’ve now fast-tracked a critical adjustment for the sniper’s ‘camo cloak’ ability, originally planned for Patch 11, to address ongoing abuse. This update also includes vital fixes for bugs that were causing accidental friendly fire, ensuring your battles are less frustrating and more focused on the enemy.
While the patch 10.2 notes for Space Marine 2 might seem brief, their impact is substantial. The standout modification targets the sniper’s camo cloak ability. This change directly addresses a problematic exploit known as ‘cloak cancels,’ which allowed players to maintain permanent invisibility—and effectively invulnerability—through precise input timing. This tactic had become one of the most overpowered strategies, trivializing even the most challenging encounters within the game. Previously, a demonstration of this exploit was widely circulated by players.
Instead of completely removing the ‘cloak cancel’ strategy, Saber Interactive has opted for a rebalance. Now, the initial three consecutive uses of the camo cloak consume no energy. However, the fourth activation will instantly drain 5% of your energy, with each subsequent use increasing the energy cost. After a ten-second cooldown since your last camo cloak activation, the energy cost will reset to zero. Beyond this, another critical improvement is the fix for perks that were mistakenly harming allied players. For example, the Ascension perk, which causes assault jump pack leaps to damage nearby enemies, will no longer affect your co-op partners. This ensures more cohesive teamwork without accidental friendly fire incidents. Additionally, allied flame effects have been made more distinct, and an issue preventing bots from entering elevators during Exfil operations has been resolved.
The legendary chainsword has also received a significant rebalance. Its base statistics have been adjusted, and the classic light-heavy-heavy attack combination now concludes with a powerful stomp. Furthermore, the damage dealt by all its heavy attacks has been boosted by a substantial 15%. In other combat adjustments, Saber has slightly reduced the frequency of Chaos Spawn encounters, meaning they will now appear in packs at a similar rate to Tyranid Warriors. This patch, version 10.2, is currently live, bringing these crucial updates to the game. Players can dive back into the action and experience these changes firsthand.
