While Mecha Break initially showed immense promise with a strong demo and launch week in July, its player numbers have since seen a decline. Now, Amazing Seasun Games is ready to inject new life into the free-to-play PvP experience with the launch of its anticipated first season, ‘Pulse of the Indigo Stone.’ This major update brings a fresh roster of mechs, significant balance adjustments, and various in-game events, all designed to reignite the player base.
Headlining Season 1 are two brand-new medium-weight striker mechs: UBP-D06A HEL and NGS-X24IT ALPHARD. Despite their shared weight class, these two additions offer distinctly different combat styles.
For those who prefer a tactical and deceptive approach, Hel is your mech. It boasts a reflective and cunning kit, allowing it to disguise itself as an enemy striker. This illusion prevents opponents from locking on, only briefly faltering when Hel attacks or is detected by recon. Hel’s primary weapon is a versatile long-range emitter, capable of switching between close-range and sniper modes. In close-range, it unleashes bouncing arcs of electricity that chain between enemies, dealing energy damage. In sniper mode, players can aim from a distance to deliver continuous, devastating beams of plasma. Additionally, Hel is equipped with a reflector drone that deflects incoming attacks and a pulse trap drone that, when deployed, becomes stealthy and staggers any foes entering its vicinity.
In stark contrast, Alphard is built for unbridled aggression and frontal assaults. Its main autocannon relentlessly pounds targets with 12-round armor-piercing bursts, inflicting heavy ballistic damage. Complementing this, its rocket pod sidearm delivers explosive blast damage. Alphard’s auxiliary abilities include a barrage of multi-lock missiles and a ‘rapid assault mode.’ This mode propels the mech forward at high speed, enhancing its own lock-on range and reticle size, while also allowing evades to break enemy lock-on. Furthermore, Alphard’s electro-trail ability deploys an explosive wire that bypasses enemy fluid armor, dealing physical damage and staggering targets. This powerful ability requires activation during rapid assault mode while locked onto an enemy, leaving behind a smoke trail that destroys drones and interferes with enemy strikers caught within its coverage.
Beyond these exciting new mechs, the developers have implemented a comprehensive range of balance changes across the existing roster, aiming to ensure that more gameplay options feel viable and competitive.
Amazing Seasun has also addressed player concerns regarding the scheduling changes that affected the end of Season 0. To compensate players, everyone who logged in during Season 0 will receive rewards. Those who signed the S0 Matrix Contract will be granted 12,000 Mission Tokens (which do not count towards season totals) and 10 Pulse Light supply crates. Even players who did not sign the contract will still receive 3,000 Mission Tokens.
Mecha Break Season 1 is live now, as of Friday, September 19, and is available to play for free on Steam. For detailed information, players can refer to the complete patch notes provided by Amazing Seasun Games.
