Apple is gearing up to introduce the iPhone 17e as the successor to its affordable iPhone 16e, which launched last February, replacing the iPhone SE. Recent leaks suggest that the upcoming model will offer minimal upgrades, primarily focusing on significant chipset improvements rather than design overhauls. Rumors indicate a 6.1-inch display, a 48-megapixel rear camera, MagSafe charging capabilities, and Apple’s new in-house cellular and wireless chips.
iPhone 17e Expected to Arrive With Apple’s A19 Chip
According to tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the iPhone 17e will feature largely the same hardware as the iPhone 16e. The most notable enhancement is anticipated to be the inclusion of Apple’s advanced A19 chip, a significant upgrade from the A18 chip found in the iPhone 16e.
The same source also suggests that Apple will not alter the design or dimensions for the iPhone 17e, meaning it will likely retain the familiar look and feel of its predecessor. Expectations are that the iPhone 17e will utilize the identical display panel as the iPhone 16e, complete with a 60Hz refresh rate and a display notch housing the selfie camera and Face ID technology.
These recent insights align with earlier predictions from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who also forecasted a new chipset, MagSafe charging, and Apple’s custom cellular and wireless chips for the iPhone 17e. Apple is reportedly aiming to maintain the previous model’s pricing, around $599 (approximately Rs. 57,000). While earlier leaks hinted at a Dynamic Island feature, the latest information suggests a consistent design.
The iPhone 17e is positioned as Apple’s more budget-conscious iPhone offering, with its launch speculated for February 19. Should the new device largely mirror the iPhone 16e, users can expect features like a 48-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel front camera, and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The current model supports 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging.
