Bhanu Bogavarapu’s directorial debut, ‘Mass Jathara,’ starring Ravi Teja and Sreeleela, hit theaters on November 1st, following paid premieres on October 31st. The film’s box office performance on its second day appears to be significantly impacted by its clash with the re-release of SS Rajamouli’s epic, ‘Baahubali: The Epic’.
According to trade website Sacnilk, ‘Mass Jathara’ grossed an estimated ₹2.9 crore from its premiere shows. It further collected around ₹3.75 crore and ₹3 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively, bringing its total net collection in India to approximately ₹9.65 crore within the first weekend, including premieres.
While these numbers show a slight improvement compared to Ravi Teja’s earlier film, ‘Mr Bachchan,’ which earned ₹6.35 crore in its opening two days, ‘Mass Jathara’ is still a distant second. ‘Baahubali: The Epic,’ in its re-release, has managed to collect ₹18.05 crore net in India over the same two-day period, highlighting the significant impact of the major clash.
Given the muted reception at the box office so far, the film’s performance in the coming week will be crucial to watch, especially to see if it can gain momentum and compete with the re-released epic.
