The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently launched its heaviest satellite yet, CMS-03, aboard the LVM-3 rocket, which has been nicknamed ‘Bahubali’. This impressive feat of engineering was met with enthusiasm from director SS Rajamouli and the entire ‘Baahubali’ team. They took to social media to express their congratulations and pride in ISRO’s accomplishment.
SS Rajamouli shared a picture of the rocket launch, extending his felicitations to ISRO for the successful mission. He remarked, “Congratulations to #ISRO on the successful launch of the heaviest communication satellite CMS-03 today! A proud moment for India showcasing our technological strength and self-reliance in space exploration. Onwards and upwards!”
He further added that the entire ‘Baahubali’ team was thrilled by the rocket’s nickname, stating, “Our entire Baahubali team is elated as @ISRO fondly named this rocket ‘Bahubali’.. Due to its heaviness and strength.. Truly a privilege for all of us.”

The CMS-03 satellite, weighing 4410 kg, is the heaviest satellite to be launched from Indian soil. It is intended as a replacement for the GSAT-7 satellite, utilized by the Indian Navy. The LVM-3 rocket successfully placed the satellite into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on Sunday evening.
In related news, SS Rajamouli’s acclaimed ‘Baahubali’ films, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ (2015) and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (2017), were re-released in theaters on October 31 as ‘Baahubali: The Epic.’ This remastered version, a comprehensive 3-hour and 44-minute saga set in the world of Mahishmati, stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles, with Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, and Nassar in key supporting capacities. The re-release had a successful opening weekend, earning ₹24.35 crore net in India and ₹39.75 crore worldwide.
