AIIMS NORCET 2025 Exam Rocked by Alleged Paper Leak and Widespread Technical Failures

The Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET), administered by AIIMS Delhi, is once again embroiled in controversy. Fresh accusations of a paper leak during this year’s preliminary examination have emerged, with candidates claiming that a substantial portion of the questions were circulating on social media platforms like X even before the exam commenced. This alarming development comes despite AIIMS’ stringent policy of keeping question papers confidential, reigniting serious concerns about the fairness and integrity of one of India’s most vital healthcare recruitment assessments.

Adding to the widespread discontent, numerous technical failures across various exam centers exacerbated the candidates’ frustrations. In Jammu, for instance, the examination was delayed for several hours due to persistent system crashes, leading to protests outside the venue. Similar disruptive issues were reported from other locations, creating an environment of anxiety and chaos for aspiring nursing officers already under immense pressure. The dual blow of potential malpractice and operational shortcomings means NORCET’s credibility is now facing its most challenging test to date.

Fresh Allegations of a Paper Leak

Reports from candidates indicate that nearly 60% of the questions in the preliminary exam were allegedly leaked and visible on social media prior to the test. This unfortunate recurrence, echoing a similar controversy from 2023, raises critical questions about the effectiveness of the security measures implemented by AIIMS to protect the examination process from such breaches.

Echoes of the 2023 Controversy

Just two years ago, in 2023, the NORCET exam faced similar allegations that led to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe and several arrests. The fact that these claims have resurfaced so soon highlights potential systemic vulnerabilities in how the examination process is monitored and safeguarded. Such repeated incidents place thousands of hopeful aspirants at a severe disadvantage and undermine public confidence.

Technical Glitches Worsen the Situation

Beyond the alleged leaks, widespread technical disruptions at exam centers further compounded the problems. Candidates in Jammu endured hours of delays due to continuous system crashes, while others across the country reported a range of glitches, poor administrative management, and generally chaotic conditions. This unfortunate combination of technical failures and suspected malpractice has fostered an atmosphere of deep uncertainty and distrust among examinees.

Nursing Associations Demand Decisive Action

In response to these grave irregularities, a joint working committee representing various nursing associations has formally addressed AIIMS Director Dr. M. Srinivas. They described the issues as “deeply troubling” and urged for an immediate, transparent investigation. The associations are demanding strict accountability for those found responsible and a commitment to implementing robust safeguards to ensure the unquestionable integrity of all future examinations.

High Stakes for NORCET and Its Aspirants

The NORCET examination serves as a critical gateway for securing nursing officer positions in AIIMS and other central government hospitals. With persistent allegations of paper leaks and operational failures, the very credibility of the exam—and, more importantly, the career prospects of thousands of dedicated aspirants—now hangs precariously in the balance. Restoring public trust in this crucial process will require swift, transparent, and decisive action from AIIMS authorities.
