Residents of Delhi are once again grappling with the harsh reality of toxic air as a viral video shared by Kapil Dhama, Founder of Options360, has brought the severity of the pollution problem into sharp focus. Dhama, who conscientiously runs four air purifiers 24/7 in his home, captured a startling moment when opening his main door for mere seconds caused the indoor Air Quality Index (AQI) to surge from a relatively safe 97 to an alarming 500.
The video, shared on November 1, 2025, quickly garnered significant attention, with over 6.1 lakh views and a flood of reactions from users expressing dismay and concern. Many commented on how the pollution levels have become unbearable, particularly after Diwali, with one user describing the situation as “life has become hell in NCR.” The drastic shift recorded by the air purifier serves as a stark visual reminder of the pervasive and immediate impact of the outdoor pollution on indoor environments.
The Delhi-NCR region has consistently experienced air quality in the ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ categories since Diwali. On Saturday, Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 233 at 7 am, with the city visibly covered in smog, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app. This ongoing environmental crisis continues to affect the daily lives and health of millions in the region.
