In a disturbing turn of events, a road rage incident in Florida escalated dramatically when a woman, identified as Esmerelda Cruz, confronted her neighbors and their pet dog, pulling a gun on them. The terrifying encounter was captured on video by Cruz herself.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported that the 23-year-old resident of Lehigh Acres was arrested on Sunday, facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The confrontation occurred at the intersection of 19th St. SW and Ruth Ave. S.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned the behavior, stating, “Road rage has no place in Lee County, and won’t be tolerated.” He emphasized the department’s commitment to keeping the community safe.
The video footage shows a car speeding and narrowly missing a man and his dog. Moments later, the car stops, and the woman emerges, pointing a handgun at two women while the man shields them and guides the dog to safety. Cruz can be heard shouting expletives and threatening remarks, including, “Don’t run in front of my car,” and “I’ll light your life up!”
Authorities recovered the firearm from Cruz’s residence after her arrest.
