Suzuki made a significant statement at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 by revealing its groundbreaking Fronx Flex Fuel Vehicle concept. This advanced iteration of the popular Fronx is engineered to operate on E85 fuel, a specialized blend containing up to 85 percent ethanol.
Visually, the Fronx FFV maintains the familiar silhouette of the standard Indian model, with subtle distinctions like unique Flex Fuel badging and graphics. It retains its original dimensions—3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height—and sports the characteristic black alloy wheels.
While Suzuki has kept the detailed specifications of the Fronx FFV under wraps for now, its introduction holds considerable importance for the Indian market. India’s government is actively pursuing an aggressive biofuel policy aimed at increasing ethanol blending in fuel, with E20 fuel (a 20 percent ethanol blend) already being rolled out in various regions. The Fronx FFV concept therefore serves as a crucial indicator of how Suzuki intends to adapt its vehicle lineup to align with these upcoming fuel standards.
It’s worth noting that the Fronx model available in Japan presents some differences from its Indian counterpart. The Japanese version comes equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, offering a choice between a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Furthermore, it includes Suzuki’s AllGrip Select AWD system and an ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) suite—features that are not currently available on the Indian-specification model.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx sold in India provides two engine options: a 1.2-liter K-Series Dual Jet engine, which delivers 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, and a more spirited 1.0-liter Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, capable of 99 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque.
