Global music icon Enrique Iglesias made a triumphant return to India after 13 years, captivating a massive crowd of over 25,000 fans at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds on Thursday night. The concert was a spectacular display of his energy and musical prowess, with attendees singing along to his chart-topping hits.
A particularly memorable moment of the evening occurred when a fan, eager to capture the experience, threw their phone onto the stage. The charismatic 50-year-old singer, mid-performance, impressively caught the device. In a spontaneous gesture, Iglesias paused to snap a quick selfie with the phone, flashing a peace sign to the delighted audience, before tossing it back into the enthusiastic crowd.
This interaction sparked excitement among other fans, many of whom attempted to replicate the gesture, hoping for their own stage-side selfie with the star. However, none of the subsequent phone-throwing attempts were successful.
The electrifying concert experience was further amplified by opening acts from EDM duo Progressive Brothers and Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi. Iglesias delivered a high-energy 90-minute performance that left the sold-out venue buzzing.
This was the singer’s third visit to India, and he is scheduled for another performance at the same venue on Friday, with expectations of an even larger turnout. The event was attended by several Bollywood celebrities, including Malaika Arora, Vidya Balan, Rakul Preet Singh, Jaccky Bhanani, Rubina Dilaik, Anu Malik, and Abhinav Shukla, adding to the star-studded atmosphere.
