For the second consecutive year, an official Lego tabletop game is poised to become a holiday season favorite. Following last year’s success with Monkey Palace, a strategic board game for up to four players, this year introduces Brick Like This, an exciting collaborative party game designed for up to eight players. ‘Brick Like This: A Lego Party Game’—not to be confused with the ‘Lego Party’ video game—is now available for just $20 at various major retailers.
Both ‘Brick Like This’ and ‘Monkey Palace’ were developed by Dotted Games, a studio under the Asmodee umbrella dedicated to creating innovative Lego board games. Given the ongoing popularity of ‘Monkey Palace’ and the promising early performance of ‘Brick Like This,’ it’s highly anticipated that Dotted Games will soon unveil their third Lego board game masterpiece.
Brick Like This! A Lego Party Game
$20
This engaging game supports 2-8 players and is recommended for adults, teenagers, and kids aged 7 and up. It’s a fast-paced experience dynamically designed to offer a unique adventure every time you play.
Players are divided into teams of two, competing to construct miniature Lego models as quickly as possible. One player builds the model by following instructions communicated by their partner. The game includes 92 distinct shape cards and a total of 48 Lego pieces. Models range from a minimum of five bricks to a maximum of eight. You can earn more points by choosing to build models with a greater number of pieces, though the instructor won’t know the final look of the model until they reveal the card.
Adding to the fun, there are 20 challenge cards that introduce special restrictions for builders and instructors. These might include tasks like building with your eyes closed, using only one hand, or limiting the types of hints the instructor can provide.
Once a team completes their model, they flip the hourglass, initiating a 30-second countdown to the end of the round. After six rounds, teams tally their scores to determine the winner. Each game typically lasts around 15 minutes.
