Actor Vivek Oberoi is currently enjoying a rewarding phase in his career, with significant projects on the horizon. He’s set to appear in ‘Mastii 4’ and is a part of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious film ‘Ramayana’, which stars Ranbir Kapoor. Additionally, he has joined the cast of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming project, ‘Spirit’, featuring Prabhas.
Oberoi reflected on his career, sharing, “When you’re so at ease with yourself, when you’re not desperate or not worried, stressing about your career, just floating, relaxed and getting great films, great offers, listening to a lot of scripts and having the luxury of choosing to pursue it from a passion perspective rather than a compulsion, it’s amazing.”
Speaking about Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, he expressed immense pride, stating, “What Namit (Malhotra, producer) and Nitesh are doing is that through Ramayana, they are truly taking Bhartiya cinema to the global stage. Ramayana is going to be India’s answer to Hollywood epics.” He highlighted the project’s VFX strength, noting the involvement of a company with multiple Oscar wins, and emphasized the grand vision of bringing a beloved Indian epic to the global audience.
In a heartwarming gesture, Oberoi revealed that he has decided to donate his fee for ‘Ramayana’ to a cause close to his heart: children battling cancer. “I told Namit that I don’t want a penny for this, I want to donate it to any sort of cause that I believe in, which is kids with cancer,” he shared, underlining his desire to support the project’s aim of elevating Indian cinema.
He also shared his positive experience working on ‘Ramayana’, mentioning the collaborative spirit with the crew, including producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and co-stars Yash and Rakul Preet Singh. Oberoi considers ‘Ramayana’ to be historic rather than purely mythological.
Looking back at ‘Mastii 4’, Oberoi described it as a joyful reunion of friends. “It was like a homecoming, a reunion of schoolmates,” he said, reminiscing about the enduring chemistry and fun with Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, and director Milap Milan Zaveri, 21 years after the first film.
