Malayalam cinema is abuzz with exciting news: acclaimed actors Parvathy Thiruvothu and Dileesh Pothan are joining forces for the next film by celebrated director Don Palathara.
Parvathy herself shared this thrilling development on social media, expressing her eagerness to ‘Step into a world created by @don.palathara with none other than my favourite @dileeshpothan’. While fans eagerly await the official title and further details, the collaboration promises a captivating cinematic experience.
Don Palathara is renowned for his distinctive filmmaking style and a string of critically acclaimed works. He made his directorial debut with Shavam, a low-budget film that garnered attention at various film festivals. His second venture, Vith, was a crowdfunded project where he also took on roles as writer, producer, and editor. Following this, he directed 1956, Central Travancore, which premiered at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival.
Other significant contributions from Don Palathara include Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam, featuring Rima Kallingal and Jitin Puthanchery; Everything Is Cinema, a unique first-person narrative that premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam; and 2023’s Family, starring Vinay Forrt and Divya Prabha, which was also an official selection at the same festival.
Beyond this new collaboration, Parvathy Thiruvothu has a busy slate of projects. Her upcoming Malayalam films include i, Nobody, co-starring Prithviraj and directed by Nissam Basheer, and Prathama Drishtya Kuttakkaar, alongside Vijayaraghvan and Mathew Thomas, under Shahad’s direction. She is also venturing into the digital space with Storm, a thriller series produced by Hrithik Roshan for Prime Video, where she will appear alongside Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, and Saba Azad.
Dileesh Pothan, celebrated both as an accomplished director and a compelling actor, was last seen delivering a powerful performance in Shahi Kabir’s police drama, Ronth, where he starred alongside Roshan Mathew. His involvement in Don Palathara’s new film is highly anticipated by cinephiles.
