OnePlus is reportedly developing an exciting new smartphone, the ‘OnePlus Turbo’, positioned alongside the upcoming OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6 (also known as OnePlus 15R). This anticipated device is rumored to house the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, expected to be officially unveiled by Qualcomm soon. Notably, the OnePlus Turbo is tipped to feature the largest battery ever seen in a OnePlus smartphone.
OnePlus Turbo: India Launch Details Emerge
According to a report from SmartPrix, the OnePlus Turbo is currently undergoing testing in India. If the company’s rollout schedule proceeds as planned, consumers in India could see this new device launch within the next two months. However, an official release date has yet to be announced.
Unpacking the Leaked OnePlus Turbo Specifications
Internally codenamed “Macan,” the OnePlus Turbo is poised to be a truly performance-focused model. It’s expected to deliver a high refresh rate display and top-tier processing power. The device is rumored to boast a vibrant 6.7-inch OLED screen, offering a 1.5K resolution and an impressive 165Hz refresh rate – a display specification that aligns with what’s anticipated for the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6.
At its heart, the OnePlus Turbo is said to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. While this chip was expected to be announced alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC at Qualcomm’s recent Snapdragon Summit, it remains officially unconfirmed. To keep this powerhouse cool, the report suggests the phone will incorporate a “Glacier Cooling System” designed for efficient thermal management.
For photography enthusiasts, the OnePlus Turbo could arrive with a dual-rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Selfies and video calls are expected to be handled by a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
Beyond its core specs, the handset is also tipped to include an X-axis linear motor for enhanced haptic feedback, immersive stereo speakers, NFC for seamless connectivity, and a convenient in-display fingerprint sensor. Perhaps its most striking feature is the rumored 8,000mAh battery – a significant upgrade making it the largest battery in any OnePlus smartphone to date. This colossal battery is also said to support rapid 100W fast charging.
