Oppo Find X9 Ultra Poised to Revolutionize Smartphone Batteries; Ultra-Thin Model Also in the Works
Oppo recently unveiled its Find X9 series in China, introducing the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro, both powered by the formidable Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoCs. However, anticipation is building for a third, more premium model, likely to be christened the Find X9 Ultra, expected to debut later this year. Ahead of its official announcement, a prominent tipster has shed light on the flagship’s battery capabilities, suggesting it could boast the largest battery among all ‘Ultra’-branded smartphones or even rival flagship devices in its class.
The Find X9 Ultra: A Battery Behemoth?
According to insights from tipster Smart Pikachu (translated from Chinese), the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is indeed set to feature an exceptionally large battery. While the precise capacity remains under wraps, Oppo’s previous declaration of ‘no 7000mAh, no flagship’ strongly indicates that the X9 Ultra will be equipped with at least a 7,000mAh battery. Further reinforcing this, another tipster, Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese), previously claimed via a Weibo post that the Oppo Find X9 Ultra’s battery would fall between 7,000mAh and 8,000mAh.
For context, the recently launched Oppo Find X9 Pro and Find X9 already come with substantial 7,500mAh and 7,025mAh batteries, respectively, both supporting 80W wired fast charging. The current generation Oppo Find X8 Ultra features a 6,100mAh battery, offering 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Beyond its impressive power cell, the Find X9 Ultra is rumored to sport a vibrant 6.8-inch 2K display, complete with advanced eye protection technology. Photography enthusiasts will be keen to hear that the device is expected to house a quad-camera system, notably featuring two periscope telephoto lenses. These periscope cameras are reportedly receiving significant sensor upgrades, promising enhanced image quality across various shooting modes, including macro, portrait, and zoom.
Its predecessor, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, already boasted a sophisticated Hasselblad-tuned rear camera setup. This included a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultrawide shooter, a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 3x telephoto camera, a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 6x periscope camera, and an additional 2-megapixel spectral lens.
In related news, the same tipster has hinted that Oppo is also actively developing an ultra-thin smartphone. The specific name and product series for this device are currently unconfirmed, but it could potentially join either the Oppo Find or Oppo Reno lineup. This development aligns with recent reports suggesting that Xiaomi is also working on a similar super-slim phone, rumored to be called the Xiaomi 17 Air.
