Tragedy struck in the heart of Rome today when a 69-year-old Japanese tourist tragically fell to his death from the iconic Pantheon’s perimeter wall. Local media reports indicate the incident happened around 9:50 PM local time. A passerby, believed to be a priest, discovered the man and immediately alerted authorities.
Emergency services and firefighters were called to the scene and reportedly had to force entry to reach the victim, who was found deceased in a ditch. The man, identified as Morimasa Hibino, is believed to have been sitting on the edge of the wall, estimated to be about seven meters high, when he lost his balance.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the fall.
