Activision has just dropped a fresh new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, bringing back the beloved fictional character, The Replacer, portrayed by Peter Stormare. However, this time, The Replacer is too preoccupied with a celebrity-filled space mission to Mars, prompting him to enlist a team of “Replacer replacers” to handle his duties.
According to Activision’s press release, the video is a humorous, “tongue-in-cheek” take on a recent real-world celebrity space adventure, specifically referencing Blue Origin. Of course, in this Black Ops 7 version, things take an unexpected and chaotic turn.
This comedic jab is clearly aimed at Jeff Bezos’ space venture, which previously sent notable personalities like Katy Perry, Gayle King, and Lauren Sanchez into low orbit. That particular mission received widespread criticism for its perceived insensitivity and awkwardness, and Activision is now playfully adding its own spin to the public’s sentiment.
Among the fictional celebrity passengers on this Black Ops 7 space flight are internet personality Jake Paul, humorously dubbed the “first problem child on Mars,” and Love Island star Huda Mustafa, introduced as the “first baddie on Mars.” With The Replacer occupied, it’s up to Terry Crews and Nikki Glaser from “Replacer HQ” to answer the call and become the new stand-in Replacers. The iconic character, The Replacer, has been a familiar face in the Call of Duty universe for quite some time, even becoming a playable operator in the previous installment, Black Ops 6.
Fans can look forward to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launching on November 14, making its way to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Notably, it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from day one, consistent with Microsoft’s other exclusive titles.
