The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the application deadline for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship for the academic year 2025. This scholarship is specifically designed to support meritorious single girl students who have successfully cleared their Class 10 CBSE exams and are now enrolling in Class 11 in CBSE-affiliated schools. The program aims to foster academic excellence among girls by providing financial assistance, thereby alleviating the costs associated with education.

Eligible students can receive financial aid to cover their tuition fees, encouraging families to continue investing in their daughter’s education. Prospective applicants must complete the online application process, submit all necessary documents, and fulfill every eligibility requirement before the revised deadline to secure this valuable opportunity. The final date for application submission is now November 20, 2025, which was previously October 23.

Eligibility Criteria for CBSE Scholarship

To be considered for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship, candidates must meet the following conditions:

  1. Single Girl Child: The student must be the only child of her parents.
  2. Academic Performance: A minimum of 60% marks must have been secured in the Class 10 CBSE examination.
  3. Enrollment: The applicant must be currently enrolled in Class 11 at a CBSE-affiliated school.
  4. Tuition Fee Limits: For Indian students, the tuition fees for Class 10 must not have exceeded ₹1,500 per month. Any subsequent increase for Classes 11 and 12 should not surpass 10% annually. For NRI (Non-Resident Indian) applicants, tuition fees must not exceed ₹6,000 per month.
  5. Verification: The school must officially verify the application to confirm eligibility.

Required Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documents for scholarship consideration:

  • Class 10 Marksheet: An official copy as proof of academic achievement.
  • Affidavit: A legal declaration affirming the student’s status as a single girl child, attested by a First Class Judicial Magistrate, SDM, Executive Magistrate, or Notary.
  • School Undertaking: A formal statement from the principal of the current school, confirming enrollment and providing details regarding fees.
  • Aadhaar Card: This must be linked to the student’s bank account to facilitate direct fund transfers.
  • Bank Details: A copy of the bank passbook or a canceled cheque.
  • Fee Receipt: Proof of tuition fee payment for the current academic year.
  • Photograph: A recent passport-size photograph of the student.

How to Apply for CBSE Scholarship

The entire scholarship application process is conducted online through the official CBSE scholarship portal. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship section on the official portal.
  2. Choose either ‘Fresh Application’ for new applicants or ‘Renewal’ if you are reapplying.
  3. Accurately fill in all personal, academic, and bank account details.
  4. Upload all required documents in the specified format.
  5. Submit the application and print the confirmation page for your records.

All applications for the Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship are subject to verification by the school where the student is currently enrolled. Incomplete or unverified applications will be rejected and will not be considered for the scholarship. Furthermore, this scholarship is non-renewable; once it is canceled or discontinued, students cannot reapply in subsequent years. The program’s core objective is to provide crucial financial backing by covering tuition fees, ensuring that deserving single girl students can pursue their higher secondary education without financial strain.
