Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain is officially teaming up with acclaimed actor and director Ben Stiller for an exciting new Apple TV+ limited series titled The Off Weeks. This eight-episode thriller drama promises to captivate audiences with its intricate plot and stellar cast.
The series will be helmed by Michael Showalter, celebrated for his work on projects like The Idea of You and The Dropout. Guiding the narrative as showrunner is Alissa Nutting, known as the co-creator of Made for Love. Both Chastain and Stiller are also stepping into executive producer roles, bringing their creative vision to the project.
The Off Weeks centers on Gus Adler, a writing professor whose personal world shatters following a divorce. He desperately tries to maintain a semblance of order during his “on weeks” when he has custody of his children. However, his “off weeks” take an ominous turn as he becomes dangerously entangled with Stella West, a mysterious woman whose sudden appearance threatens to upend his carefully constructed life and deepest desires.
Showalter developed this intriguing project with Semi-Formal Productions, with Jordana Mollick also serving as an executive producer. Further executive producing credits go to Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher for wiip, and Peter Principato, Allen Fischer, and Brian Steinberg for Artists First. This isn’t Ben Stiller’s first venture with Apple TV+; he previously directed the critically acclaimed and multi-Emmy-winning series Severance, and is also involved in the upcoming documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain is also slated to appear in another thrilling Apple TV+ miniseries, The Savant, indicating a strong partnership with the streaming platform.
