In a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, acclaimed producer Masahiro Sakurai spent a significant amount of time, totaling over an hour and 49 minutes across two presentations, detailing the upcoming project, Kirby Air Riders. During today’s broadcast, Sakurai delivered a notable piece of news: the game, set to launch in November, will not feature any downloadable content after its release. Players will get the complete experience right from day one.
Sakurai made this announcement as the presentation concluded, stating clearly, “Just so you know, we’re not planning any DLC. Everything is here.” He further clarified that there are no intentions to develop Kirby Air Riders into an ongoing series, emphasizing its standalone nature.
“I’ve poured everything I have into this game from the start,” Sakurai added, urging fans not to miss this unique opportunity.
Despite the lack of future DLC, the comprehensive Direct livestream showcased that Kirby Air Riders will be rich with content. The broadcast highlighted numerous new modes, diverse characters, and customizable costumes. Key announcements included a story mode named “Road Trip,” several new playable characters, and “My Machine,” a feature allowing players to build and personalize their own air riders for races.
Moreover, the presentation confirmed the return of beloved features from the original Kirby Air Ride. All nine tracks from the classic game will be integrated into this new title, expanding the total track count to 18. The “Top Ride” mode, which offers a unique top-down racing perspective distinct from the traditional on-track view, will also be included.
Kirby Air Riders is slated for an exclusive launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 20.
