Since 2021, Thomas Donofri and the dedicated members of Slurm Team have been passionately crafting a conversion mod that transforms the classic title, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, into a full-fledged Futurama game. Now, after four years of development, the first demo for Futurama: Hit & Run is finally available, and it has received an incredible endorsement from Joe McGinn, the lead designer of the original game.
The demo’s launch trailer, released earlier this week, quickly caught McGinn’s attention. He left a comment, stating, “I can only say … this looks awesome! I want to play it.”

The demo is accessible for free via links provided on YouTube, but it requires players to own a PC copy of The Simpsons: Hit & Run to function. As showcased in the trailer, the familiar town of Springfield has been reimagined as New New York, with players taking on the role of Philip J. Fry, navigating the city one delivery at a time.
While Futurama did receive its own video game in 2003 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, along with some mobile titles, the franchise hasn’t seen many major gaming opportunities beyond crossovers. In 2023, McGinn expressed his support for an official remake of Simpsons: Hit & Run. Currently, the closest thing to that is a separate fan-made remake being developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Furthermore, there are strong indications that The Simpsons universe will soon be integrated into Fortnite, with rumors suggesting a launch as early as November 1. Although Epic Games has yet to make an official announcement, early speculation points to the entire town of Springfield becoming a playable map within Fortnite.
