During the beta phase of Battlefield 6, a vocal segment of the fanbase made their opinions clear to EA and Battlefield Studios regarding leaked cosmetic items. Players have consistently expressed a preference for more realistic skins, contrasting them with those offered in the Call of Duty series. This strong sentiment recently surfaced again in response to a new skin that prominently featured an orange design.
On a popular online forum dedicated to Battlefield 6, an image of the Recon class’s ‘Dead Sight’ skin, appearing strikingly bright orange, sparked a wave of humorous reactions among players. One commenter quipped about the tactical disadvantage, saying, "Imagine seeing this teammate in a dark map." Another playfully suggested naming it the ‘Hunter Orange’ skin, while a third sarcastically remarked on its camouflage potential: "Perfect for blending into the environment, definitely."
Setting the jokes aside, many users pointed out that the initial image likely had its colors altered or was displayed with incorrect settings, as the actual, unedited skin appears significantly different.
A subsequent post revealed the skin in its true form, showcasing a much more subdued and less vibrant orange tone, which more closely aligned with player expectations for realistic aesthetics.
Battlefield 6 players have consistently voiced their strong disapproval of the more outlandish crossover skins seen in the Call of Duty franchise, such as those featuring characters like Beavis and Butt-Head or from American Dad. In response to player feedback, the development team reaffirmed their commitment to realism, stating, "We’re really happy with where we are. We want to be a gritty, realistic shooter … That’s what we intend to be, and that’s what the game is going to look like for a while."
In other news, veteran game developer Marcus Lehto recently revealed that Battlefield 6 did not adequately credit several developers from Ridgeline Games, who contributed to the single-player campaign. Despite these internal issues, the game has achieved significant financial success, having sold over 7 million copies globally.
Battlefield 6’s first season is slated for release on October 28. The game also recently celebrated a major milestone, reaching a peak concurrent-player count exceeding 747,000, demonstrating its strong player engagement.
