A powerful tornado unexpectedly swept through Val-d’Oise, north of Paris, on Monday, leaving a path of destruction. The violent storm claimed the life of a 23-year-old construction worker and left ten others injured, with four in critical condition, authorities confirmed. The town of Ermont, located approximately 20 km northeast of the capital, bore the brunt of the twister’s fury, experiencing significant damage across several districts.
The French Interior Minister, Laurent Nunez, described the event on the social media platform X as a storm of “rare intensity.” The sudden twister caused extensive damage, including the toppling of three construction cranes, damage to numerous properties, and the uprooting of trees.
