From Gurgaon’s Hustle to Goa’s Calm: Why This Man Chose a Dream Life Over the Corporate Ladder

A man who made the significant decision to move his family from Gurgaon to the idyllic shores of Goa has shared the profound impact it has had on his life. Prashant Kalra, who relocated in 2019, described the move as initially perceived ‘reckless’ by many, but one that has ultimately yielded immense long-term benefits for both his family and his career.

Kalra, who works as a realtor, emphasized the dual role of being a father and husband, stating, “The risk we took when we decided to move to Goa in 2019 would seem reckless to most.” He elaborated on five key reasons that drove this life-changing decision.

The foremost reason was his daughter’s health. “My daughter would have had full blown asthma and bronchitis, impacting her quality of life. She was 3 when we moved. Today she’s 10 and she’s healthy,” he shared, highlighting the significant improvement in her well-being.

Kalra reflected on his potential career trajectory had he stayed in the bustling Delhi-NCR region. He mused, “I may have gone on to become a partner at a law firm. I would have made a lot of money. But I would likely have always worked for someone. And life in Delhi NCR would have taken its toll.” This contemplation underscored his desire for autonomy and a life on his own terms.

He found that Goa offered the perfect environment to embrace a slower pace of life while still fostering his career. “I may never have discovered this alternate lifestyle that Tpb allows me. To do something I love, at my own pace and at my own time,” he explained, appreciating the newfound balance.

Furthermore, the relocation prompted a focus on personal health and fitness, something he felt would have been a challenge amidst the high-pressure metro lifestyle. “I would never have focussed on my own health and fitness because I wouldn’t have had the time,” he admitted.

Ultimately, Kalra expressed satisfaction that his move allowed him to experience the kind of tranquil life most people only dream of during retirement, but at a much earlier stage in life.

Social Media Reactions

Kalra’s post resonated with many online, sparking conversations and shared experiences:

  • “Agree, moved from ggn to goa and never been happier! 4 years and counting!” one user commented.
  • “That is bold and good step your responsibility towards your family…. I also love GOA very much. Trying to check the possibilities to move there,” another user shared.
  • One user inquired, “Are schools and hospitals that good in goa? I really wanna know.. i live in bengaluru but love goa vibe.”
  • Another user simply remarked, “Great move.”
