The head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Tom Fletcher, has expressed a sense of progress in addressing the severe starvation crisis in Gaza. Speaking to the BBC, Fletcher stated that the situation is improving, with a significant increase in aid trucks entering the coastal enclave.
Following a recent ceasefire agreement, Fletcher reported that “hundreds more trucks” are now making their way into Gaza. However, he cautioned that the scale of the task remains enormous, describing the effort to deliver vital supplies to those in desperate need as a “huge job”.
Fletcher also made an urgent appeal to the global community, urging for continued support to provide essential aid, including the goal of supplying one million meals daily, and to rebuild the damaged health sector within Gaza.
