World of Warcraft’s highly anticipated Midnight expansion, expected this winter, will finally bring player housing to all adventurers. While not every home will be equally grand, a brilliant new add-on offers a significant advantage for those looking to furnish their personalized space. Players who pre-order Midnight will gain early access to housing on December 2, allowing them to get a jump start on decorating.
Furniture can be acquired by completing various in-game achievements. Importantly, many items will be awarded retroactively, meaning you might already have some decorations waiting if you’ve been an active player. The complete list of housing-related achievements was recently unveiled on WoW’s Public Test Realm, which quickly led to the creation of an invaluable tool: the Home Bound add-on.
Crafted by a player known as Bettiold, Home Bound displays over 100 unique decorative items, complete with 3D visuals, all tied to specific in-game achievements. Players can conveniently filter out achievements they’ve already mastered, focusing their efforts on the furniture they still desire.
To begin using the Home Bound add-on:
- Install Home Bound.
- Once you’re in the game, type “/hb” or “/homebound” into your chat.
From there, you can easily navigate and browse achievements by category. Blizzard has also shared details about “Endeavors,” which are planned neighborhood-wide events that will encourage players to collaborate on common goals and earn collective rewards for their efforts.
However, the Midnight expansion has also sparked discussion due to changes regarding combat add-ons. The alpha build has reportedly made much of the combat information invisible to add-ons, without offering clear alternatives. This has raised some concerns within the player community.
