Battlefield Studios has officially addressed a significant player concern in Battlefield 6: the prevalence of ‘XP farms.’ The studio is now actively patching out these farming methods to enhance long-term player development and foster a more engaging experience across all platforms.
Players can look forward to several key improvements. Experience points gained from simply completing matches will see a 10% boost, while XP earned from daily challenges has been increased by a substantial 40%. Additionally, the experience required to unlock the first 20 Attachment Ranks has been reduced, making early progression smoother. Career rank assignments have also been re-tuned; tasks previously requiring ranks 20, 23, and 26 will now only demand ranks 10, 15, and 20, respectively.
These changes come in response to widespread reports of servers being filled with bots, allowing players to quickly accumulate XP without meaningful engagement. This practice, while providing a way to test setups without pressure and progress faster, inadvertently led to unintended consequences. As Battlefield Studios explained in a recent social media post, ‘With so many servers focused on farming XP rather than active play, it’s become noticeably harder for players to create and find experiences to play with other people. Our goal moving forward here is to reinforce the player-driven experiences that bring people together, while still keeping room for custom setups, creativity, and new ideas.’
The development team is actively working on further adjustments to minimize active XP farms, which will, in turn, free up valuable server space for legitimate player matches. Future updates will also include tweaks to gameplay and the game’s visual elements, specifically addressing the exceptionally bright lighting in Battlefield 6.
Despite these early progression challenges, Battlefield 6 has achieved remarkable success since its launch, marking the ‘biggest opening ever’ for the series. EA confirmed the game has already sold over 7 million copies across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. On Steam, the title set a new concurrent-player record with over 747,000 players. As the gaming community anticipates the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1 on October 28, the studio’s commitment to improving player experience is clear, especially with Call of Duty’s new Black Ops entry on the horizon next month.
