Next year, the legendary Halo franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary, and it’s been clear for a while that a new game is on the horizon. Just last month, Halo Studios hinted at major revelations coming during the Halo World Championships. Now, the exact date for this highly anticipated announcement has been confirmed.
The Halo World Championships are scheduled for October 24-26 in Seattle, Washington. The official schedule is out, confirming that Halo Studios will drop their major news at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on Friday, October 24th. Brian Jarrard, community director at Halo Studios, further fueled excitement by tweeting about the upcoming announcement, urging fans to tune in for news on one of their projects.
Although no official confirmations have been made, persistent rumors suggest that a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved is in the works. Virtuos, known for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, is reportedly collaborating with Halo Studios on this project. While Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was released in 2011, this new version is rumored to feature a hybrid engine, blending Unreal Engine 5 with the Halo Reach Engine. Speculation also indicates this could be the very first Halo title to launch on PlayStation consoles.
Even Master Chief’s voice actor, Steve Downes, has cryptically hinted at major news without revealing specifics. Microsoft had previously confirmed that multiple Halo projects are in development. Last year’s Halo World Championships featured a ‘New Dawn’ trailer, indicating that future Halo titles, including ‘Project Foundry,’ will be developed using Unreal Engine.
Beyond gaming, the Halo TV series recently debuted on Netflix and rapidly became one of the platform’s most-watched shows.
