Western Nepal experienced a 4.9-magnitude earthquake on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of damage following the tremor.
The National Earthquake Monitoring Centre confirmed the quake, which occurred at 1:08 AM, with its epicenter located in the Dantola area of Bajhang district.
Bajhang district, situated approximately 475 kilometers west of Kathmandu, felt the impact, as did its neighboring districts of Bajura, Baitadi, and Darchula.
This event serves as a reminder of Nepal’s considerable susceptibility to seismic activity. The country lies within highly active tectonic zones (Seismic zones IV and V), experiencing numerous earthquakes each year.
