Many Battlefield 6 players have noticed a significant problem since the game launched on October 10: their perfectly aimed shots aren’t always registering. This frustrating bug has led to countless lost gunfights and a surge of player reports and shared clips online.
This widespread issue, initially highlighted by PC Gamer, is tied to the weapon bloom mechanic in Battlefield 6. Normally, bloom increases bullet spread and decreases accuracy during sustained fire. However, the current bug appears to apply this effect unfairly, impacting accuracy regardless of how long a player has been shooting or their distance from the target. The consequence is clear: players are losing engagements they should win and receiving confusing visual cues, such as seeing enemies bleed without proper hit markers confirming a successful shot.
Florian Le Bihan, a principal designer on Battlefield, addressed the issue, confirming that a similar bug from the open beta had been fixed. However, he revealed that the current problem stems from ‘another issue (two in fact)’ negatively affecting weapon dispersion and bloom. He assured players that the team is actively working on a solution and evaluating overall dispersion balance.
Recognizing the widespread impact of this bloom bug, Le Bihan has been collecting player feedback and evidence to help the Battlefield team pinpoint the precise cause. While they haven’t yet isolated it to a single weapon, Le Bihan’s comments imply that specific weapon attachment combinations could be contributing to these accuracy problems.
Although an official fix has not yet been announced, it’s anticipated to arrive soon. Despite these persistent issues, Battlefield 6 continues to perform strongly, topping the Steam charts over the weekend and reportedly selling over 6.5 million copies in its inaugural week.
