Kate Cassidy has opened up about the profound impact of her last moments with Liam Payne, admitting that the memory replays in her mind as if it were just yesterday. The 26-year-old influencer, who was in a relationship with the late One Direction singer, shared an emotional video on TikTok on October 12th, shortly before the first anniversary of Payne’s death.
Visibly moved, Cassidy spoke candidly about her feelings, stating, “I come on here not to cry – I honestly feel extremely numb today. I actually think somebody could slap me across the face and I wouldn’t be fazed.” She emphasized the importance of cherishing loved ones and expressing affection.
“I wanted to make this video because I wanted to express how important it is to really remind your loved ones how much you love them. I know I say it, but you never know what tomorrow brings,” she added, highlighting the fragility of life.
Remembering Their Last Goodbye
Cassidy recounted her final conversation with Payne before she departed from Argentina, the same city where he tragically passed away just four days later. “I was sitting on the couch, just expressing to him how much I’m going to miss him, how much I love him,” she recalled, her voice trembling with emotion.
She shared Liam’s poignant response: “He looked at me and he said, ‘Kate, you’re going to miss your flight. You’re acting like this is the last time you’re ever going to see me again.’ And little did I know, it literally was the last time I got to see him.” Cassidy expressed immense gratitude for their final moments together, saying, “I’m so, so glad that me and Liam had that last goodbye the way it was.”
A Life Cut Short
Liam Payne, 31, passed away on October 16th, following a fall from his hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires. Authorities determined the cause of death to be “polytrauma,” resulting from multiple severe injuries. Toxicology reports indicated the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and antidepressants.
Cassidy and Payne reportedly began dating in late 2022 and confirmed their relationship in December of that year. Despite reports of a split in May 2024, they were seen together again in London the following month. Following Payne’s death, Cassidy posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram Stories, expressing her deep love for him. She was also present at his funeral in England, where she joined his former One Direction bandmates in bidding a final farewell.
