Nvidia is officially bringing its newest artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer to the market. The company confirmed on Monday that it will commence shipments of the Nvidia DGX Spark, touted as the world’s most compact AI supercomputer, beginning October 15. Despite its remarkably small size, the chipmaker asserts that this device possesses ample power for users to develop and interact with sophisticated AI models. Serving as a successor to the DGX-1, which first launched in 2016, the DGX Spark comes equipped with 128GB of unified memory and boasts an impressive one petaflop of AI performance.

Nvidia DGX Spark: Pricing and Availability

The Nvidia DGX Spark is priced at $3,999 (approximately Rs. 3.5 lakh). This cutting-edge AI supercomputer will be available for order starting October 15. Furthermore, various PC manufacturing partners, including Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, and MSI, are expected to release their own custom versions, providing consumers with additional choices. For example, the Acer Veriton GN100 is anticipated to hit the market shortly.

Nvidia DGX Spark: Technical Specifications

At its core, the Nvidia DGX Spark features the company’s powerful GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip chipset, delivering an astounding one petaflop (equivalent to 1,000 trillion floating-point operations per second) of AI performance. This advanced chipset facilitates intricate on-device computing and supports the creation of highly processing-intensive applications. Nvidia has specifically engineered this supercomputer to excel in diverse AI workflows.

The GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip integrates an Nvidia Blackwell GPU, complete with Cuda and Tensor cores, alongside an Arm-based Nvidia Grace CPU featuring 20 efficiency cores. This advanced chipset was developed through a collaboration with MediaTek. Notably, it includes 128GB of unified memory and offers up to 4TB of NVMe SSD storage. The DGX Spark is capable of managing AI models with up to 200 billion parameters and can fine-tune models reaching up to 70 billion parameters. Nvidia also highlights its ability to create advanced AI agents.

In terms of physical design, the Nvidia DGX Spark is incredibly compact, measuring 150 x 150 x 50.5mm and weighing just 1.2kg. It requires a connection to a 240W power outlet to operate. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang personally delivered one of the initial units of this supercomputer to Elon Musk at SpaceX on Monday. Other prominent early recipients include technology giants and innovators such as Google, Hugging Face, JetBrains, Meta, Microsoft, and Ollama.
