Renowned filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, celebrated for his gripping thrillers like Andhadhun and Merry Christmas, is embarking on a new cinematic journey with Ikkis. This upcoming war drama is a powerful tribute to the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. Maddock Films recently unveiled the film’s first look, confirming Agastya Nanda in the pivotal lead role.
Maddock Films released two compelling posters on social media, accompanied by the poignant caption: “Woh ikkis ka tha, ikkis ka hi rahega” (He was twenty-one, and twenty-one he shall remain). One image depicts Agastya Nanda commanding a battle tank, while the other portrays him in a military uniform, symbolizing the bravery of the 21-year-old soldier who heroically sacrificed his life during the 1971 Battle of Basantar. The reveal was strategically timed to coincide with Khetrapal’s birth anniversary, honoring his indelible legacy.
The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including legendary actor Dharmendra, acclaimed performers Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikander Kher, and emerging talent Simar Bhatia. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, known for hits like Stree, Bhediya, and Sky Force, Ikkis is eagerly anticipated for its theatrical release in December 2025.
This venture signifies a notable departure for Raghavan, whose acclaimed career has predominantly focused on noir thrillers and crime dramas. For Agastya Nanda, the grandson of cinematic legends Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, Ikkis marks his first significant solo leading role, following his debut in The Archies.
The project was initially announced in 2019 with Varun Dhawan slated to star, but faced delays due to the global pandemic, eventually leading to a reimagining with a fresh cast.
